Delhi-NCR on new Environmental hazard: Ozone pollution doubles; higher risk of cancer

Ozone Pollution witnessed higher in the months between April and June of this year in comparison to the same period last year, says a report from the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). Reportedly, the average ozone levels observed in Delhi exceeded the limit of 13 percent among the days between April 01 and June 15 this year. In comparison to the same period of the previous year, it was 7 percent, which has now exceeded 13 percent. As per reports, the number of days crossing the limit was 53 percent to 92 percent which was said to be extremely high. Among the National Capital Region, Faridabad witnessed the highest share of the days when the ozone levels exceeded the standard of 80 percent. Likewise, Ghaziabad was at second with 67 percent following Gurugram at 21 percent. This clearly shows the increase in the rate of pollution in the national capital. Delhi Pollution has always been a concern, but still, no measures are taken for the same.
