Delhi Police arrest 10 people with criminal backgrounds over Jamia Millia Islamia violence

Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested 10 people with the criminal backgrounds in connection with the violence that took place in Jamia Millia Islamia area on Sunday, an official said. According to the police officials, no student has been arrested. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered two FIRs in connection with the violence which erupted during the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Also, a major controversy had broken out after police personnel resorted to lathi-charge and firing of tear gas shells to deal with the violence during the protests against the citizenship amendment bill passed in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha of the Parliament. She stated that as many as 200 people were injured in the incident of which many of them were the students of the university. Najma also added that the university administration will file a first information report against Delhi Police for forcibly entering the Jamia Millia campus and allegedly destroying property. -PTC News
