Dharwad building collapse: Death toll rises to 3
The death toll in Karnataka’s Dharwad building collapse has risen to 3 on Wednesday, while 43 others have been admitted to a hospital. The under-construction building collapsed on Tuesday. According to media reports, 43 people have been admitted to the civil hospital while 13 others have been referred to KIMS and SDS hospitals.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are engaged in the rescue operation. A special 25 member NDRF team from Lucknow has been called for the rescue operation. A five-member team of experts from Bengaluru has reached the spot.
Earlier, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy tweeted, “The rescue work is on a war footing. About 25 people have been rescued and three persons are seriously injured. The injured are being treated. I request the local public not to panic and all those feared trapped in the building will be rescued ASAP.”
