Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken today cautioned the people of Punjab not to get deceived by the hollow promises and false propaganda by the Aam Aadmi Party with an eye on the forthcoming Assembly elections in Punjab as the people of Delhi were now regretting their decision to elect the AAP to power. He said the Kejriwal Government had not fulfilled even a single promise made to the people of Delhi in its one-year rule, which the Delhi Congress had observed as ‘Chalawa Diwas’ (day of cheating) on February 14. Punjab not to get deceived by the hollow promises and false propaganda by the Aam Aadmi Party with an eye on the forthcoming Assembly elections in Punjab as the people of Delhi were now regretting their decision to elect the AAP to power. He said the Kejriwal government had squandered the tax payers’ money to tom-tom about its so-called achievements by taking out huge media advertisements, which was full of lies and falsehood, as the AAP government took credit for the achievements of the previous Congress government, which had laid the foundations for all the development works in Delhi. Shri Maken said the AAP Government has earmarked Rs 526 crore for its self publicity whereas it has no money to give the wages of the employees and pensions of widows, handicapped and the old people. Others present at the press conference were AICC secretary in-charge of Delhi Shri Kuljit Singh Nagra, DPCC chief spokesperson Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee and DPCC office-bearers Shri Chattar Singh and Shri Bhram Yadav. Shri Ajay Maken said the AAP Government had not laid a single brick for development, but claimed credit for increase in the sales of liquor and publishing dairies and calendars as their “great achievements”. Shri Ajay Maken said the people of Delhi were now waiting for an opportunity to teach the Aam Aadmi Party a bitter lesson, which may happen if bye-elections to the 13 MCD wards are held any time soon. He said the AAP which talked about eradicating corruption, was intolerant to internal criticism as it was quick to suspend two Punjab MPs for raising the issue of internal democracy whereas three of the AAP Ministers, who were accused of corruption and cheating, continue to remain members of the AAP in Delhi. He said Punjab was going through a tough time, and the Delhi Congress did not want the AAP to worsen the situation in Punjab, and hence was exposing the corruption and double-speak of the AAP party, as the same people, who took money to give party tickets and for appointing Ministers in Delhi would be in charge of Punjab too.
