Donald Trump calls COVID 19 'Chinese virus', ignites anger

The US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called coronavirus pandemic as the Chinese virus in a tweet that he posted after an address. Donald Trump took to Twitter and wrote: "The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!" Although the virus was first reported from China's Wuhan, the World Health Organisation, who declared COVID 19 as a global pandemic, directed not to use any terms that link the novel coronavirus to China. The tweet comes in the midst of a blame game between Beijing and Washington over the spread of the coronavirus. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1239685852093169664?s=20   Meanwhile, the tweet has sparked anger among politicians, doctors, and the public. Responding to the US President's tweet, American actress Mia Farrow took to Twitter and wrote: "Its called the Coronavirus and it's now as American as apple pie so stop racist comments." A user wrote: "Chinese Virus??? Just when you think Trump can't go any lower, he always finds away." A Chinese journalist replied: Chinese virus? You are indeed a racist, proved time and again." Another user replied: "There it is. I’ve been deathly afraid of this exact moment where Trump turns to racism and xenophobia and calls COVID-19 the “Chinese Virus.” We are in deep trouble as a nation now that President of the United States makes the conscious decision to go down this dark path of hate."
