Don't befool and deceive Punjabis with fraudulent advertisements - SAD

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked the Congress government not to befool and deceive Punjabis with fraudulent advertising and instead tell them if it has done a single thing for Punjab during the last three months. Asking the Punjab Congress not to resort to old tricks by trying to sell dreams which would never see the light of day, SAD Secretary General Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa asked it to tell specifically if it had done anything till now. "We don't want to listen to what you propose to do. You don't need to waste government money to announce that. Just tell which election promise you have fulfilled till now". Speaking about the lies listed in recent Congress government advertisements, Mr Dhindsa said "you are yet to waive off a single farmer's loan. You have still not come out with a list of drug lords arrested during the last three years. You have not given employment to even one youth. Whom are you trying to fool with these false advertisements?". The SAD MP said it was also condemnable that the Congress advertisements, which did not list a single achievement, were also taking credit for work done by the previous SAD- BJP government. He said a claim had been made that awareness was being given about drug abuse and rehabilitation programmes had been launched. "Everyone knows that a comprehensive rehabilitation programme against drug abuse was launched by the Parkash Singh Badal government with the assistance of the PGIMER. The Congress government has not added to this programme", he added. The Akali leader also termed the tom-tomming being done vis a vis the "apni gaddi apna rozgar" scheme as backstabbing of the Punjabi youth. He said the Congress had promised to provide one job to each household. "Now instead of fulfilling its demand it is pushing Punjab youth to become taxi drivers for multinational companies. The youth want government jobs as well as skilled jobs in industrial houses. The Congress government cannot think beyond making them taxi drivers or asking them to buy motor cycles and tow passengers on the pillion. No money has been kept aside in the budget for even these schemes", he added. Mr Dhindsa said instead of claiming "vaade nibha rahi lagataar as was being done in the advertisements, it was more apt to describe recent actions of the Punjab Congress as "dhokha de rahi baar baaar". He said the Congress government had failed to implement the promised farm loan waiver. A puny amount of Rs 1,500 crore has been allocated to waive loans equivalent to Rs 90,000 crore. He said it was because of this that farmer loans had not been waived off till now. Mr Dhindsa also asked the Congress government to issue a two line release disclosing from which date it would implement measures like power at Rs 5 per unit. "There is no clarity from when this will be implemented because no provisions have been made in the budget for this additional expenditure. It is clear that you giving false and misleading advertisements with the sole objective of running away from your promises. We will not allow you to do this. We will expose you before the people and force you to implement all your promises", the Akali leader added. —PTC News
