Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander now not in race for Faridkot's Baba Farid varsity VC post

Ludhiana, October 13: Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander is now not in race for the post of Vice- Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. After his candidature was rejected by Governor Banwari Lal Purohit saying the appointment is "against the rules", Dr Wander has withdrawn his name from the race. It is learnt that Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander has also requested the government not to send his name in the panel of three candidates. He is currently serving as Vice-Principal of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, and chief cardiologist at Hero DMC Heart Institute, a unit of DMCH. The Governor rather sought a panel of three candidates for the selection of the VC. Notably, the post of VC had fallen vacant in July after the resignation of Dr Raj Bahadur who put in his papers following "humiliation" at the hands of Health Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra, who made him lie down on a dirty bed during an inspection.
