DRI seizes 1121.5 kg of cannabis; 3 arrested
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1121.5 kilograms of cannabis at Panthangi toll plaza in Hyderabad on Thursday. Three people were arrested in the case. DRI received an input, based on which it intercepted a truck at Panthangi toll plaza on Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway.
During the search operation, officers found cannabis in 550 HDPE packages. They were carefully wrapped and concealed beneath a load of fly ash bricks. The market value of seized cannabis is estimated to be around Rs 1.6 crore. Also Read: 500 gm gold worth Rs 16 lakh seized in Amritsar
According to officials, the contraband was loaded into the vehicle at Sileru. It was on its way to Sholapur, Maharashtra. The drug and the vehicle have been seized under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
