Earthquake jolts parts of North India, people rush out to streets in Srinagar: An earthquake on the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Wednesday shook several parts of north India, including Delhi, Punjab and the Kashmir Valley, the met department said. A powerful earthquake rocked North India including Chandigarh, Kashmir, New Delhi and other areas in region — the initial tremor was felt at 12:36 pm according to the Indian Meteorological Department. "The epicentre of the quake was near the Afghanistan- Tajikistan border and occurred at a depth of around 190 kilometres," an official said in Srinagar. The quake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale. In New Delhi, Delhi Metro trains were halted briefly but services were not disrupted, said a Delhi Metro official. The tremors in the NCR lasted for well over a minute. Reports from Srinagar said the tremors were intensive and people were seen coming out of their offices and homes soon after. The quake measured over 186 km in depth, according to experts.-
