Stressing upon the role of education in the development of society as well as human character, the SOI president S. Parminder Singh Brar said that education not only makes us skilled enough to get jobs or do business, but it builds up human character as well. The Punjabi culture would have appeared worthless if the teachings of the great Guru Sahibans were not imbibed into it.

Addressing a huge rally of the Student Organisation of India (SOI) at Ripudaman College, S Brar said 550 years ago, the concept of Sarbat da Bhala (blessings for everyone) was propagated by our first Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. The youth should come forward to preserve this great heritage as a model of welfare as well a developed state could be established by following the teachings of our great guru Sahibans.

He further stated that by following the Sikh tenets, Punjabis have not only earned epithets like ‘a brave and hard working community’ but also created a niche for themselves in every sphere of life, be it sports, music, Hollywood, Pollywood, trade and industry.

The SOI president called upon the youth to come forward and join the SOI if they feel concerned about Punjab and Punjabiyat, have any plans for a better future of the state, want to eradicate drugs, unemployment, Gangwar and other social evils from the land of Punjab.

Brar also honored some renowned social workers included S. Mewa Singh, Harpreet Singh, Master Harwinder Singh and Kulwant Singh on the occasion.
