ED raids Shilpa Shetty's residence, Raj Kundra's offices in pornographic case
PTC News Desk: The Enforcement Directorate raided bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty's residence in Mumbai's Santacruz in a money laundering investigation linked to a porn network case against him. The offices of businessman were also raided in money-laundering probe in connection with production and distribution of the pornographic content.
According to the officials, the probe agency is also searching the premises of Kundra's associates in the case. He was arrested in June 2021 on charges of allegedly producing pornographic films. He was later granted bail in September 2021, after spending two months in jail.
The pornographic racket was busted in February 2021 by Mumbai Police resulting in the arrest of five individuals followed by four additional arrests. In June, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch resumed its probe and uncovered the involvement of HotShots, an app owned by Raj Kundra's company and servers with adult content were seized.
During the bail plea hearing, Kundra's counsel argued that neither he nor his IT head, Ryan Thorpe--who was also arrested--was responsible for deciding what content was uploaded to the platform. However, the Mumbai Police maintained that they have enough evidence against Kundra.
