BJP spokesperson Surjit Jayani Exclusive: The farmers protest against the Centre's farm laws 2020 is getting serious and taking different angles with each day. While Punjab farmers have been protesting for the withdrawal of the 'anit-farmers laws', the Center has been pushing hard for its implementation.
Meanwhile, the attitude of central government towards the farmers protest seems to have weakened as BJP spokesperson Surjit Jayani, During an exclusive interview with PTC News, revealed that the three Union ministers would hold talks with the farmers soon.
Surjit Jayani also said that the meeting will take place on November 13 at the residence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
It may be recalled that Jayani had met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday. Jayani had apprised of the situation created by the farmers' protest.
He said that the Union Government has sought time to meet the Punjab farmers.
It is pertinent to mention that the farmers across the country have united against the Centre's farm laws 2020. A nationwide Chakka Jam was called on November 5 by farmers' organizations to get the agriculture laws repealed.
Even now, there are protests in front of toll plazas and residences of BJP leaders.
The farm laws 2020 — the Farmers” Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 — were enacted recently after President Ram Nath Kovind gave consent to them.
