Farmer leaders term repeal of farm laws big win, but say legal guarantee for MSP still pending

Representatives of 32 farmer organisations from Punjab on Monday welcomed the passage of a Bill to repeal the three farm laws in both Houses of Parliament on Monday. They said the Farm Laws Repeal Bill passage in Parliament was victory for them. Addressing mediapersons, farmer leaders said a special meeting of the SKM had been called on December 1 to discuss the future course of the farmers' agitation. The farmer leaders said the Centre had time till November 30 to reply to their demands, following which they will decide their future course of action. Harmeet Singh Kadian, president of the BKU (Kadian) said the meeting that was scheduled for December 4 would go on as decided. "This is an emergency special meeting on December 1 that will be held by representatives of farmer organisations, who went for 11 rounds of talks with the Central Government," he added.
