Farmers' agitation sponsored by Congress, alleges Surjit Jyani
Lashing out at Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, BJP leader Surjit Jyani on Tuesday alleged that the farmers' agitation was sponsored by the Congress. Surjit Jyani alleged that earlier too, farmers shifted their protest to Delhi at the behest of Captain Amarinder Singh and now again he was asking them to shift their dharnas against the three farm laws to Delhi. Jyani asked why the Punjab Chief Minister has raked up this issue after several months. The senior BJP leader alleged that Punjab's economy had already been suffering under the Congress government in the state. Industries were shifting out and and the crime rate was also increasing. He also took a dig at farmer leaders for indulging in politics. BJP's Surjit Jyani claimed that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was committed to ensuring the welfare of the farming community. He also claimed that the next government in Punjab would be formed by the BJP. He asked the protesters to focus on the "Union Government" in New Delhi and shift their dharnas from Punjab to Delhi or Haryana. His comments have drawn sharp criticism from the Opposition. Captain Amarinder told the farmers that if they wanted to build pressure on the Union Government, then they should shift their protest to Delhi.
