Diego Costa, who scored two goals against Portugal in the opening group match, was in his elements today as he scored his third goal in two matches thus taking his personal tally to three.

The all important goal came in the 53rd minute when Silva played the ball to Diego Costa who turned and slammed the ball into the goal but not before it got the deflection from an Iranian defender.

Iran, known for its solid defence, had its share of chances. The only time its defence cracked was when Costa scored. On the other hand, Spain needed a win desperately as it had split points with Portugal in their first group match.

Ezatolahi must have been disappointed as his first World Cup goal was disallowed.
