Fireworks at 3 am lands Indian in Jail Festivities of Diwali festival last year landed this Indian origin man in Singapore jail. Jeevan Arjoon (29) has been sentenced to undergo imprisonment for three weeks in Singapore for setting off fireworks close to a housing complex during Diwali celebrations last year. Beside this, a fine of 5,000 Singapore dollars has been imposed on him. He lit them at 3:30 am on Diwali i.e., November 6, 2018. The fireworks were loud enough to be heard from the neighbouring public housing estate of Yishun. The fireworks lasted for five minutes. No cause to damage or no loss of life was reported from this Diwali event. District Judge Marvin Bay pronounced the verdict on Jeevan Arjoon.  While briefing the media, the Judge said that the court had to take a strict view of his conduct. Therefore, it sentenced him to three weeks’ jail and 5,000 Singapore dollars fine. The court said that setting off the fireworks at 3:30 am could cause serious injuries and could also cause considerable alarm to the public.
