Forbes India Rich List 2019: Mukesh Ambani retains the top spot

Forbes has recently released the list of Top 100 Richest Indians for the year 2019. The list was made using the shareholding and financial information, taken from the families and individuals, stock exchanges, analysts and regulatory agencies. Yet again, Mukesh Ambani has topped the list to be the richest Indian for the 12th consecutive year. The chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, added $4.1 billion to his net worth owing largely to the success of Jio. It is the three-year-old telecom unit that became India’s biggest mobile carrier with 340 million subscribers. Also, he has retained his number one spot with a net worth of $51.4 billion (which is equivalent to Rs 3.7 lakh crore appx.). After nine-years, Adani got permission in June to start the project on an Australian coal mine. Apart from this, he has initiated some new businesses from airports to data centers. Earlier, the second spot was with Wipro founder Azim Premji who lost his place and has fallen to 17th following his decision to give a huge chunk of his money to philanthropy. Meanwhile, the Hinduja brothers got to number 3 spot with a net worth of $15.6 billion, while Pallonji Mistry of Shapoorji Pallonji Group got 4th rank with a net worth of $15 billion.
