Former Congress leader Manjit Singh Ghasitpur joins SAD

Senior Congress leader and former Congress party district president Manjit Singh Ghasitpur today joined the Shiromani Akali Dal. Senior Congress leader Manjit Singh Ghasitpur today joined the Shiromani Akali Dal with thousands of supporters. Former district president Manjit Singh had contested the assembly elections from Tarn Taran in 2007 on a Congress party ticket. The Ghasitpur family, who have been associated with the Congress for two generations, today bid farewell to the party. Meanwhile, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal in his address said that Congress party has now become a party of capitalists. The Congress has not fulfilled a single promise in four years. Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Shiromani Akali Dal has always talked about farmers, development, and Punjabiyat. The development of Amritsar is a testament to the performance of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Only the Akali Dal can do Punjab and Punjabiyat. Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the arrival of Mr. Manjit Singh Ghasitpur would strengthen the party in Tarn Taran district especially in Khadur Sahib. The Shiromani Akali Dal has waged many struggles. He said that all the dams except Bhakra Dam were constructed during Badal government. Eighty-five per cent of the cases have been registered during the SAD government. Mr. Sukhbir Badal said that grain mandis were the responsibility of Badal government. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Shiromani Akali Dal was involved in the implementation of MSP. He said that the decision to make tub wells free was taken during the Shiromani Akali Dal government. 7500 crore power has been provided free of cost to the farmers during the Shiromani Akali Dal government. Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia appealed to all the political parties to unite and raise their voice in favor of the peasant struggle. He demanded to declare Mandi to the whole of Punjab. -PTC News
