Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir joins BJP
Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir today joined Bharatiya Janta Party. On March 18, the left-handed batsman stated that he had not thought about joining politics.

The decision of joining politics comes a day after BJP released its first list 185 candidates on Thursday for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He announced his retirement in 2018 after completing 10,000 runs in first class cricket.

The seven phase polling will start on April 11 and conclude on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
