While coronavirus cases in India have been rising at a pace, the former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, has tested positive for coronavirus, he announced on Monday.
He took to Twitter and wrote: "On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health stated that India's coronavirus recoveries have crossed the historic peak of 1.5 million, with a recovery rate of almost 70 percent. The highest ever single-day recoveries of 54,859 were reported in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries now exceed the active cases by more than 9 lakhs.
The Health Ministry added that the active cases have reduced and currently comprise only 28.66 percent of the total positive cases. India has posted more than 9 lakh recoveries than the active cases (6,34,945). The coronavirus fatality Rate is 2 percent as on date and is steadily declining.
Coronavirus cases in India have been rising, ever since the government has announced various relaxations in the restrictions imposed during the lockdown. Now, it has started to contract among politicians. Union Minister Amit Shah is among the prominent personalities who are fighting the pandemic.
