As many as four militants associated with Pakistan-backed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Monday. According to the information, the Shopian encounter in Jammu and Kashmir took place at around 2 am at the Manihal area.

Meanwhile, a joint operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the CRPF. After receiving inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area, the security forces reached the spot. As per the police, two terrorists were killed initially in the joint operation. Likewise, a massive search operation was launched in the area to find out some more terrorists hiding in the area.

Sharing more details later, Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar, said that 4 LeT terrorists were killed while 3 pistols were recovered. "As far as encounter SOP is concerned, the security forces followed the procedure," he said. With this, the total number of terrorists killed this year has reached 19 out of which 9 were from the Shopian district and 2 were top commanders. Even as he said that there has been no civilian death. As many as four militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Monday. Reportedly, the terrorists, killed, have been identified as Aamir Shafi, Rayees Ah Bhat, Aaqib Malik and Altaf Ahmad Wani.
