Gangster Munna Bajrangi shot dead inside Uttar Pradesh jail
A 51-year old Gangster Prem Prakash Singh alias Munna Bajrangi was shot dead inside Baghpat jail Monday morning. He was accused in as many as 40 crimes inclusive of murder and extortion. He was arrested from Malaad, Mumbai back in 2009 for the murder of BJP lawmaker Krishnanand Rai. The lawmaker was shot more than 100 times with an AK-47 in 2005. He was imprisoned in Jhansi jail. Gangster Munna Bajrangi was shifted from Jhansi to Baghpat around 9:30 pm on Sunday night for an appearance in a local court on Monday in an extortion case. Sources told that around 5:30 am in the Baghpat prison, when the inmates were having tea, another prisoner Sunil Rathiat, fired at Bajrangi, killing him instantly. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "I have ordered a judicial inquiry and suspension of the jailor. Such an incident occurring inside jail premises is a serious matter; will conduct an in-depth investigation and strict action to be taken against those responsible." Additional Director General (ADG), Prison, Chandra Prakash has suspended four jail officials. Among those suspended are Udai Pratap Singh (jailor), Shivaji Yadav (deputy jailor), Arjinder Singh (head warder) and Madhav Kumar (warder). Prakash said. “We are probing how the fire arm was available inside the jail. It is a serious lapse by local jail administration.” Bajrangi's wife Seema Singh had held press conference on June 29 in Lucknow and said, "I want to tell UP Chief Minister Adityanath ji that my husband's life is in danger. A conspiracy is being hatched to kill him in a fake encounter." Senior police officials of UP STF had refuted Seema’s allegations of a murder conspiracy and insisted that it was a ploy to shore up sympathy for the gangster. An FIR has been lodged. -PTC News
