Gobind singh longowal becomes SGPC President for second consecutive time Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal won the presidential post in Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) election for the second consecutive term. A total number of 191 members of the general house of the SGPC including 15 co-opted members, heads of five Takhts and the Head Priest of the Golden Temple choose the new president of SGPC. Also Read: Sukhbir Badal gives a clarion call that he will go to the court to get justice for the " massacre" committed due to sheer negligence of the state government Other Executive members chosen are Gurmeet singh Tirlokewala, Amrik Singh, Bhupinder, Singh Bhalwan, Jarnail singh kartarpur, Jagjeet singh talwandi, Khushvinder singh Bhatia, Bhai Manjit singh, Amrik singh vicchoa, Jasbir kaur Jaffarwal, Shingara singh lohian, Tara Singh Sallah. Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal began his political career with Sant Harchand Singh Longowal. He was elected as an MLA from Dhanola constituency in 1985, 1997 and 2002. He also hold the portfolio of Irrigation Ministry in Prakash Singh Bal-led Punjab government. Longowal was also elected from Dhuri assembly seat in the by-polls held in 2015. The by-poll was necessitated after sitting Congress MLA Arvind Khanna resigned as a legislator. -PTC NEWS
