Gold Medalist Navjot Kaur honoured with a cheque worth Rs 2.5 lakh by SGPC
Gold Medalist Navjot Kaur in Asian wrestling championship was honoured by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar on Thursday morning.
Gobind Singh Longowal, SGPC Chief honoured the gold medalist with a cheque worth 2.5 lakh. At the same time ICC U-19, Arshdeep Singh was awarded with a cheque worth 1.25 lakh by the SGPC.
Navjot Kaur scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold in the Senior Asian Championships as she clinched the yellow metal in the 65kg freestyle category.
Navjot outclassed Japan's Miya Imai 9-1 in a one-sided final bout of the women's 65kg freestyle category to bag the gold.
As Navjot Kaur brought glory to the nation, Shiromani Akali Dal had announced 2 lakh cash award while Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee awarded the star of Punjab- Gold medalist Navjot Kaur with a cheque of one lakh in the first week of March.
