Government could consider GST on petroleum, says MoS Finance Anurag Thakur

Petrol and diesel prices in India: Amid fuel price hike and uproar, the Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur, on Tuesday said that the government could consider GST on petroleum. In a written reply, the MoS for Finance, Anurag Thakur, told Rajya Sabha, "To bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST, the recommendation of the GST Council is necessary. No such recommendation has been made so far". It is pertinent to mention that the petrol and diesel prices in India remained unchanged on Tuesday for straight 10th day.
