Soon after the Central government reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel prices in India by Rs 5 and Rs 10, respectively, Gujarat, Manipur, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand governments reduced fuel prices giving much-needed relief to the common man.
Gujarat government on Thursday announced the implementation of the Centre's decision, and reduced prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 7 per litre in the state. "Prices of petrol and diesel in Gujarat will be reduced by Rs 7 per litre with immediate effect," Chief Minister's Office informed.

Following the lead of other states, the Manipur government on Wednesday announced to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 7 each with immediate effect.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, while welcoming Centre's decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, tweeted, "Heartily welcome PM Narendra Modi Ji's decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel as a gift to the people of this Nation on this Diwali. I'm also pleased to announce that the government of Manipur will also reduce VAT on petrol and diesel each by Rs 7 with immediate effect."
Likewise, the Karnataka government on Wednesday announced that it will reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 7. Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced slashing the Value Added Tax (VAT) by Rs 7 on both petrol and diesel in the state.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday announced that the state government has decided to reduce petrol and diesel cost by Rs 7. Assam government followed the Central government's suit in giving relief to people regarding fuel prices with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing a reduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 7.
Similarly, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday announced a reduction in VAT on petrol by Rs 2 per litre in the state.
