Happy Basant Panchami: Sukhbir, Harsimrat Kaur Badal extend greetings
Happy Basant Panchami: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday extend greetings to the nation on Basant Panchami 2020. Basant Panchami, also known as Vasant Panchami, is a festival that marks the preliminary preparations for the arrival of spring.
People celebrate the festival in various ways depending upon the region in the Indian subcontinent. Vasant Panchami marks the start of preparation for Holika and Holi, which take place forty days later.
Meanwhile, Sukhbir Singh Badal took to twitter and wrote: "Congratulations to all the Punjabis on the festival of Basant Panchami. For the people of Punjab, the festival has a natural as well as religious, social and historical significance, and these same roots keep us connected with Punjabi people."

Likewise, Harsimrat Kaur Badal said in a tweet: "The freshness of the season and the excitement of flying colorful kites, is a great opportunity for spring panchami. Greeting Basant Panchami, it is a prayer to God that all life be filled with renewed vigor as the season unfolds."
