Harsimrat Badal meets Nitish Kumar, discuss the issue of GST on Langar Harsimrat Badal meets Nitish Kumar, will meet CMs of all those states where Holy Takhts are located to get Goods and Service Tax (GST) waived off on Langar. Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal meets Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar on Thursday to discuss the issue of GST on Langar and get it waived off. Harsimrat Badal asked Nitish Kumar to speak with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and seek removal of GST Tax from Langar.  Harsimrat Badal will meet Chief Ministers of all those states where Holy Takhts are located and discuss the issue of GST that is a burden on the community kitchen of the Gurdwaras, as per official information. Harsimrat Badal said, she is forced to build consensus among all CMs since Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Badal have failed to pursue it. The popular community kitchen -- better known as the "langar" -- of gurdwaras in India is feeling the pinch of the GST regime. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages gurdwaras, or Sikh shrines, across Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, has claimed that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is putting an extra burden on its finances in running the free food service. At the Golden Temple complex, which is home to the holiest of Sikh shrines, the Harmandir Sahib, the SGPC have paid nearly Rs 2 crore (about $310,000) as GST. -PTC News
