Haryana govt increases monthly social security pension by Rs 200

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced to raise social security pension by Rs 200 per month to Rs 2,000 per month, with the enhancement coming into effective Thursday. Old age pension, widow pension and Divyang pension have been increased to Rs 2,000 per month, said Khattar while addressing a gathering in Panipat on the occasion of Haryana Day, an official release said. He said all former sarpanches, presidents of Zila Parishad and Block Samitis in the state would now get a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 and maximum pension of Rs 2,000 as an honorarium for one tenure. Tenure of two-and-a-half years and above would be considered complete tenure. The chief minister also announced to give pension as an honorarium of Rs 2,500 to all former mayors of all municipal corporations for every tenure and Rs 2,000 each to the former senior deputy mayor, former deputy mayor and the head of every municipal council for each tenure. Former heads of municipalities would get Rs 1,000 per month for each tenure. This pension would be given for a maximum of two tenures and till the age of 60 years, said Khattar. Tenure of two-and-a-half years and above would be considered complete tenure. The chief minister announced an insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh for employees working on hazardous jobs like the lineman, assistant lineman, fireman, sewer-man, fire driver and others in any of the government department, board, corporation and urban local bodies. In addition, the benefit of this scheme would also be given to all registered sewer men, he said. Khattar said that on November 20, 2017, the state government had provided all Haryana government employees with the cashless treatment facility for six types of ailments. Now the facility has been extended to all diseases and its treatment expenses would be cashless, he said. In the last four years of the present government, 2,279 km roads have been constructed and approval has been given for the construction of 1,505 km new roads, he added. The chief minister also announced 36 development projects of Rs 78 crore for the villagers of Panipat. PTI
