Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed petition of AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira challenging the trial court proceedings against him under NDPS Act. The HC Bench of Justice A.B Choudhary also quashed the non-bailable warrants issued against Khaira and directed that trail court shall decide the matter on merit Khaira had challenged the impugned order dated October 31, 2017 passed by the Court of Additional and District Sessions Judge, Fazilka, whereby the petitioner had been summoned to face trial as an additional accused in case registered at Police Station Sadar, Jalalabad, District Fazilka. The Punjab and Haryana High Court on 6 November stayed the non-bailable warrant issued by Fazilka's trial court against the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly and senior Aam Aadmi Party Sukhpal Singh Khaira. Khaira's name had cropped  in the drug smuggling case registered in 2015. The Fazilka Court while hearing a petition moved by the Additional Public Prosecutor Gurbaj Singh had also issued summons to Khaira's private secretary and PSO. The development had come as a major embarrassment for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which was very vocal about the issue of drug smuggling in Punjab. -PTC News-
