Pre-monsoon rain lashes parts of Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi

Heavy rain lashed out parts of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi on Wednesday bringing respite from the extreme heatwave which has been rising for the past few days. On Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that monsoon would hit the national capital, Punjab, and Haryana in the next 48 hours. Parts of Uttar Pradesh are also likely to experience rain in the next three to four hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, the weather forecaster has predicted rain and thundershowers in the next over a few places in Uttar Pradesh, including Budaun, Sambhal, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, Hapur, Amroha, Meerut, GB Nagar, Mathura, Hathras, Raebareli, Lucknow, Barabanki districts, IMD, Lucknow stated. Anand Sharma, Deputy Director, IMD, Delhi, stated that "As we had said earlier, monsoon will arrive in Delhi-NCR region on June 25 so tomorrow we are naturally going to get rain and monsoon will be declared over this region."
