Places like Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Chandigarh witnessed these activities. These rains will subside by Tuesday morning; however, isolated light showers may continue in the eastern parts for some more time.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain/thundershowers were likely at isolated places on Sunday, while at most
places on Monday. Likewise, thundershowers is likely at isolated places on Tuesday and Wednesday and at many places thereafter in the state of Punjab and Haryana.

IMD has issued a warning and said in a statement that "Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and lightening likely at isolated places on January 13 and 16 in Punjab and Haryana. Likewise, heavy rain likely at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. While predicting fog intensification, IMD said, "Dense fog at isolated places on January 14 in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
