Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc: 27 Killed In Uttar Pradesh

Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc: 27 Killed In Uttar Pradesh Nearly 27 people were killed as heavy rains lashed in different parts of Uttar Pradesh. According to the MET department, thundershowers were likely to continue at many places in UP. Heavy downpours toppled mud houses, flooded low-lying area, uprooted trees and snapped communication links at many places in the state. The MET office said that southwest monsoon was "active" over east Uttar Pradesh and "vigorous" over the western part of the state causing moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers at most places. According to the sources nearly 5 people have died in Agra, 4 people have died in Mainpuri, 3 people died in Muzaffarnagar and another 3 died in Kasganj. There are some deaths reported from Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur Dehat, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Jhansi, Rae Bareli, Jalaun and Jaunpur. Sources told that nearly 12 people were also injured in different parts of the state. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the officials to launch relief and rescue work on a war footing and asked district magistrates of the affected areas to immediately provide necessary monetary help, as per the rules, in cases of house collapse. -PTC NEWS
