Myth: Diabetes is caused due to eating sugar Fact: It is one of the most common advice that one hear from every person. However, the fact is that there are two types of Diabetes - Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 Diabetes is a disease in which the immune system attacks insulin-producing beta cells whereas Type 2 diabetes is caused by the body’s inability to use the insulin it produces and progresses so that less insulin is produced over time. Eating sugar doesn’t cause either type, though a high calories intake can contribute to weight gain which can lead to developing type 2 Diabetes.
