Hero Hockey World League semi-finals : India reiterates its supremacy over Pakistan

India reiterated its supremacy over arch rivals Pakistan in the Hero Hockey World League semi-finals by recording its second successive win in the the tournament in London on Saturday. In a playoff game for fifth to eighth positions, India ran to a comfortable 4-0 lead at half time before ending the game with a splendid   6-1     win. Earlier in a pool match, India had trounced Pakistan 7-1.
After taking lead in the first half through Ramandeep Singh (8th minute), India added three more goals in the second quarter through Talwinder Singh (24th minute), Akashdeep Singh (27th minute) and Ramandeep Singh (28th minute).
After changing over,  Harmanpreet Singh scored from the second penalty corner in the 36th minute to make it 5-0 before Ahmad (41st minute) reduced the margin.In the fourth and final quarter Mandeep Singh got his first goal of the tournament to make it 6-1 in the 58th minute.sition.
India now plays Canada for the fifth and six positions while Pakistan face China for seventh and eighth position. Pakistan thus lose this channel to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in India.
Earlier Canada beat China 7-3 to play for the fifth and sixth position. —PTC News-
