Highways of booze: HC issues notice to DGPs, CSs of Punjab and Haryana in contempt case Irked over free flow of booze on highways despite a ban, the Punjab and Haryana High court today sought a reply by issuing contempt notices to the DGPs and Chief Secretaries of Haryana and Punjab. Also Read: Abhay Chautala moves HC seeking transfer of DA case to another judge The high court has directed the states that liquor vends outside main towns but are within the municipal limits be allowed after getting permission from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The decision came on a petition filed by an NGO, Arrive Safe. It alleged that vends are being allowed in violation of the Supreme Court order.
