Himachal Pradesh Government closes all schools and colleges amid coronavirus scare

The Himachal Pradesh government on Saturday announced that all the government and private schools, colleges and universities will remain closed till March 31 as a precautionary measure in the wake of coronavirus. While making an announcement in the Assembly, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated that concerned parents and students had approached him and hence this precautionary measure has been taken. Jai Ram Thakur said that though there has not been a single confirmed case in Himachal Pradesh, as a precautionary measure, the government has decided to close all the educational institutes, Anganwaris, and creches till March 31. The CM added that a notification had been issued about the postponement of all the fairs, festivals, religious functions, and sporting events. He added that 593 people with a travel history from the countries affected by coronavirus have been reported so far. Out of which the samples of seven people who indicated symptoms of flu have been tested negative. Himachal Pradesh CM also stated that the state health department was ready to tackle the situation and that there was no need for fear or panic. He said that they will ensure proper monitoring of our entry points as various Nepalese working in Himachal Pradesh visit here by road. To this, the Himachal Pradesh CM assured that the necessary directions would be issued and the people would be suggested to avoid the huge gatherings. Likewise, proper screening of tourists would be done at the entry points along the borders connecting with the neighbouring states, the CM said. -PTC News
