Youth Olympic Games: Hockey 5s for women: India starts with 4-2 win over Austria

Close on the heels of men’s team striking a 10-0 win over Bangladesh, Indian women also made a winning start to its campaign in Hockey 5s competition with an impressive 4-2 win over Austria in the third Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

The chief architect of India’s win was Lalremsiami who scored two of four goals for her team.

Sekima tete and Mumtaz Khan were the other scorers for India.

For Austria, thereby Sabrina and Kern Laura were the scorers.

It is for the first time that India is participating in a major Hockey 5s tournament outside Asia. Earlier this year, India played in the Olympic Qualifier in Thailand where men were the winners while women lost the final.
