Hockey: India loses second test to Australia

Australia reiterated its supremacy by trouncing India 5-2 in the second Test at Perth on Friday. The win, second in two matches,brought cheers to local Australian fans, who expected tough fight from the visiting Indian team.India has not won any game against Australia since November, 2015, when it beat them 3-2 in Test matches. The tour has been of significance importance for India as it has to play and host the FIH Series Finals in Bhubaneshwar from June 6 to 15.
Incidentally, it was the first test for India under new chief coach Graham Reid.
India had started the tour on a bright note winning games against local Club and provincial sides. However, in Test matches, Australians virtually turned the games into one-sided tall scoring games winning 4-0 and 5-2.
Starting on an attacking note, Australia had built up an impressive 2-0 lead by the time the game was only 11 minutes old. Flyn Ogilive gave a wonderful start with an impressive field goal in the third minute. His effort was followed by another superb field goal by Trent Mitton in the 11th minute.
Stunned by the two reverses, India drew some consolation when Nilakanta Sharma found the target in the 12th minute to end the first quarter 1-2.rilliant field goal in the 24
But the second quarter saw the Australia controlling the game very well without allowing much of chances to the visitors. Two goals, including a penalty corner conversion by Blake Govers in the 28th minute had extended the home team's lead to 4-1. In between Trent Mitton had added another brilliant field goal in the 24th minute.
With 4-1 first half lead. Australia played to its game plan keeping the Indians on the toes.Looking for holes in the tiring Indian defence, Australia got its fifth goal in the 43rd minute when Tim Brand  found the net after a brilliant move. Rupinder Pal Singh drew some consolation with a penalty corner conversion in the 53rd minute to make the score little respectable at 2-5.
