Hockey Olympic Qualifiers: Australia, Belgium make winning start in women's section

The first of its kind Olympic Qualifying events got underway on Friday with women teams of Australia and Belgium making winning start in their respective games. While Australia defeated Russia 4-2, Belgium defeated China 2-0 in the first of their two-games, respectively, Australia were served well by Emily Chalker, who scored the first and fourth goal for her team. Incidentally, the goals came in the second minute and twelve minutes from the final whistle. Amy Lawton and Grace Stewart were the other scorers for Australia while Bogdana Saddvaia and Alma Khalimowa were the scorers for Russia. Both the teams will now play a second game to decide the qualifier. Meanwhile, the US women's hockey team arrived in Bhubaneshwar to play against India. It is for the first time that a US women's hockey team will be playing in India. -PTC News
