Pakistan will miss the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Its run for a berth in the next year summer Olympic Games came to an end when it lost its second match of the Olympic Qualifier to the hosts, the Netherlands, in Amsterdam on Sunday. Pakistan lost 1-6 after playing a 4-4 draw in the first game yesterday. Though Pakistan were hopeful of staging a comeback in the Olympic fold, the Netherlands dashed hopes of the green shirts with a convincing 6-1 win in the second and decisive game.

The win for the Netherlands was again not without  some controversial umpiring decisions. A penalty stroke in the 17th minute may have been justified but keeping in view yesterday's umpiring aberrations, many of knowledgable game enthusiasts were not surprised at the award  Umpiring blues apart, the Netherlands team played a perfect game today. All players put everything at stake as they had a point to prove that they are no flukes but members of a side that was better.

After Bjorn Kellerman put the home team ahead in the 9th minute, the Netherlands added three more goals through Mink van der Weerden(second and fourth) and  Mirco Pruijser before the teams broke for the interval. After changing ends, the hosts stretched their lead to six goals with scores from Terrence Peters and Jip Janssen before Ali Rizwan finally reduced the margin the 53rd minute.

The win came to the great delight of Dutch hockey fans. Before coming to the Netherlands, Pakistan had played warm up Tests against Germany and lost them 1-6 and 2-6. But its performance in the first game yesterday was superb as it was leading 4-3 before a penalty corner award went against it. And that award sealed the fate of Green shirts. So Tokyo will miss green shirts.
