Hospital horror: 9 yr old dies, hospital demands Rs 9 lakhs to hand over body
After a 9-year-old girl, diagnosed with congenital dyserythropoietic anaemia (CDA), passed away suddenly at Delhi's BLK Super Speciality Hospital, the family of the minor blamed the hospital authorities of negligence. Nine-year-old Deeva Garg was admitted to the hospital on October 31 after the doctors there assured the family that they were well equipped and capable of conducting a bone marrow transplant. Deeva Garg passed away suddenly on November 25, despite the doctors saying that the situation was under control. "My daughter underwent a transplant at the hospital. After a few days, she fell sick, faced breathing problems and severe headache. Doctors continued to say that all this is normal," said Neeraj Garg, the father of Deeva. Alleging that his daughter had passed away due to medical negligence, the Neeraj said: On 25th November, my daughter passed away. Our daughter will never be back now. I want an answer from the hospital! They are at fault." The doctors kept telling us that the situation was under control but after our daughter passed away suddenly they had nothing to say, added the mother. Deeva was then admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital. Only her mother stayed with her. Nobody and nothing from outside were allowed in. On November 11, the surgery for the bone marrow transplant was conducted. On November 13, she developed a fever. The doctors stated that there was no issue. On November 22, Deeva complained of a headache and faced difficulty while breathing. The doctors administered some medicines but maintained that all was well. After suggesting shifting her to the ICU, they suggested putting her on the ventilator stating that it will help her breathe. On the afternoon of November 25, the doctors declared Deeva dead. -PTC News
