Navjot Singh Sidhu disappointed at ‘not being involved’ in process for local bodies polls

Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said he was deeply affected by the fact that he was “not involved in the process” for elections to local bodies by the state government, especially in the elections to Municipal Corporations of Patiala, Jalandhar and Amritsar. 'I was sidelined from the process of consultation on for last about a month. Nor were my views taken at the party level. I did not join the function of election of Amritsar Mayor because I was not invited in a befitting manner before the election,' Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said. I was never asked or informed about any kind of preceding that took place during the elections lately. Not just that, during the Amritsar elections i was not called to be a part of the meeting and therefore i was not a part of the meeting, he added. Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is an MLA from Amritsar, stayed away from the official function held in the new building of the MC. So did 15 Congress councillors said to be his supporters. They are upset about Sidhu’s opinion being reportedly ignored in picking the city mayor. Rural development and panchayats minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, who was party observer for Amritsar municipal corporation polls, reportedly went to meet Sidhu, but was told that the latter was not at home. Meanwhile, there was speculation whether local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu will attend Wednesday’s cabinet meeting or not. -PTC News
