Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. Speaking at a public rally in Shimla, he said: “Congress and company are spreading rumours that this act will take away citizenship of minorities, Muslims. I challenge Rahul baba to show even one clause in the Act that has provision to take away citizenship of anyone.”

While slamming Congress party, Amit Shah said, “Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh was in power for 10 years. Anyone (aalia-malia-jamalia) from Pakistan used to enter India and kill our Jawans, but the then Prime Minister never said a word on it.”

He added: “You are seeing temporary effects of global slowdown. Under leadership of Modi ji, Nirmala Sitharaman ji and Anurag ji are working day and night to fight it. I believe, Indian economy will be the first to be free from slowdown in the world.”

Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 was passed in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the winter session of the Parliament, this month. Afterwards, the violent protests took place in the nation against the CAA. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also accused Congress and its allies of spreading rumors over the Citizenship Amendment Act.
