ICC warning: Virat Kohli one demerit point away from getting banned from international cricket

Virat Kohli has recived an official warning and one demerit point for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during India's third T20 against South Africa on Sunday. He was found to have made "inappropriate" shoulder contact with Beuran Hendricks while taking a run and now has three demerit points on his disciplinary record. Now, Kohli is just one demerit point away from getting banned from international cricket. The incident took place in the fifth over of the Indian innings, in which he made inappropriate shoulder contact with Beuran Hendricks while taking a run. "Kohli admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees and as such, there was no need for a formal hearing," ICC said in a statement. Now, Kohli has three demerit points earned in less than two years. With T20 World Cup 2020 and ICC World Test Championship in the offing, Kohli desperately needs to check his aggression. After having played the three-match T20 series, which is levelled 1-1, Men in Blue will now don the white jersey and take on Proteas in the 3-match Test series. How Virat Kohli got three demerit points? Virat Kohli recieved the first demerit point during the Centurion Test against South Africa on January 15, 2018 after misbehaving with the on-field umpire. He got the second demerit point during India vs Afghanistan in the ICC cricket World Cup 2019 in England & Wales, for excessive appealing. Therefore, if Kohli recieves another demerit point before January 16, 2020, he will get a suspension from international cricket. -PTC News
