Jalandhar, February 8: A Jalandhar court on Tuesday extended the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey till February 11. He was arrested by the agency in illegal sand mining and money laundering case.

As per information, the ED further sought the custody of Honey so that he could be confronted with other accused. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's nephew Bhupinder Honey was arrested during the intervening night of February 3 and 4, and remanded to the ED custody till February 8. According to ED documents, Honey has "confessed that Rs 10 crore recovered during the raids belonged to him". The federal agency alleged that he was getting money from illegal mining too. On January 18, the ED had conducted raids at 10 different locations, including Homeland Heights, the residence of Honey, in Punjab. ED officials have also recorded the statement of Kudrat Deep Singh, the business partner of Honey. The ED said they seized incriminating documents pertaining to illegal sand mining, property transactions, cellphones, gold worth above Rs 21 lakh, a watch worth Rs 12 lakh and cash of Rs 10 crore during the raids. publive-image Illegal sand mining: ED custody of Punjab CM's nephew Bhupinder Honey extended further. The ED had initiated a money laundering probe on the basis of an FIR pertaining to illegal sand mining in Punjab lodge din 2018.  Earlier, Bhupinder Singh Honey was not named in the FIR and Kudrat Deep Singh was given a clean chit in the matter. The ED, however, found that money was being laundered by the accused involved in the case and they started probing the matter. -PTC News-
