Implement strict containment measures to limit coronavirus spread: MHA to States
Coronavirus India: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asked states to implement stringent containment measures under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management (DM) Act, 2005 to contain the spread of COVID-19. In a letter to all states, Union Home secretary Ajay Bhalla asked to consider the containment measures as per the advisory of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for implementation on the basis of assessment of the situation. Also Read | Coronavirus India: PM Narendra Modi a ‘super-spreader’ of COVID-19, says IMA Vice President Earlier this week, the Union Health Ministry had asked the States and UTs to identify those districts with tests positivity of more than 10 percent or more in the last week. It had also asked to identify the districts with bed occupancy of more than 60 percent. The districts that fulfill any of the above two criteria should be considered for taking local containment measures, it stated. It also stated that the National Directives for Covid-19 Management should be strictly followed throughout the country. Several states have been taking stringent measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. These include weekend lockdowns and corona curfew. Likewise, the Uttar Pradesh government decided to extend the weekend lockdown by 24 hours, and now it will cover Mondays as well. Click here to follow PTC News on Twitter -PTC News
