18th Asian Games: India On Its Way To Improve Upon Its Previous Best Medals Tally Joshua Chinappa gave India a lot to cheer about by upsetting the applecart of five times world champion and current Asian Games champion David Ann Nicol of Malaysia to assure India a place in the gold medal match of women's team in Squash event of 18th Asian Games on Friday. Her win helped India win the semifinal 2-0 and play Hong Kong for the gold medal match tomorrow. David Ann Nicol is considered a legend in women's squash as she has been world champion five times and has won five of six finals in women's singles in Asian Games. She is also the current Commonwealth Games champion and had beaten Joshua Chinappa in women's singles in Asian Games. It was a sweet revenge for 32-year-old Joshua as she won a gruelling 12-10, 11-9,6-11, 101-2 and 11-9 encounter in the first match of the team event on Friday. India has already won four bronze medals in Squash, including a bronze today in men's team event after losing to Hong Kong in semifinals. Though India's best performance was in 2010 Asian Games where it won a total of 65 medals - 14 gold 17 silver 34 bronze medals - it is already set to cross that aggregate here as it expects a couple of medals in sailing, two in boxing, one more in Squash besides a gold or silver in women's hockey.
