India logs 1 lakh new Covid-19 cases, positivity rate drops to 7.4%
Covid Update: India reported 1,07,474 fresh Covid-19 cases and 865 deaths in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.
The newly reported cases take the country's total Covid toll 4,21,88,138, with the death toll mounting to 5,01,979. The active caseload in the country mounted to 12,25,011, which is 2.90 per cent of the total Covid cases reported so far, as per the Health Ministry's update.
Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate in India dropped to 7.42 percent while the weekly positivity rate reduced to 10.20 percent.
According to the update by the ministry, India reported 2,13,246 Covid recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,04,61,148. The recovery rate of the country stands at 95.91 percent.

With 14,48,513 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the testing capacity across the country continues to grow. India has done 74,01,87,141 cumulative tests so far.
According to the government's update, India's Covid vaccination coverage has surpassed 169.46 Cr (1,69,46,26,697 to be exact) in the last 24 hours, with over 45 lakh doses (45,10,770) vaccine doses administered.
Delhi, on the other hand, reported 1,604 fresh Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths. The positivity rate in the national capital dropped to 2.87 percent, prompting the administration to ease Covid-19 restrictions further.
Maharashtra reported 11,394 fresh Covid cases during the last 24 hours, as per the update. While Kerala reported 38,684 new cases and 28 people succumbed to the virus.
