India vs South Africa 3rd Test Day 1: The bad light forced early stumps in Ranchi Test on Saturday. Rohit Sharma created history, as he became the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to hit three centuries in a Test series. Also, he has created a world record for most sixes in a Test series (17). Prior to this, Ajinkya Rahane had great innings as he reached a half-century (83) with a strike rate of 61.48.

Rohit Sharma, also known as Hitman, continued to hold innings together, as he stood alone from the beginning to the end of the day. He smashed 117 off 164 deliveries with a strike rate of 71.34.  What went in favour of Proteas? Just the beginning. The visitors dismissed Mayank Agarwal (10), Cheteshwar Pujara (0) and Virat Kohli (12). All these batsmen were dominating the Proteas in the previous two matches.

However, this wasn’t just enough. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane have put the team back on track. The duo led the team to a total of 224/3 on day 1. Despite exceptional bowling of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi, Proteas couldn’t unnerve the hosts. Rabada took 2 wickets (dismissing Mayank Agarwal and Pujara), while Nortje trapped the big fish, Virat Kohli.
